The Russian subway system is indescribably grand, imposing, and not surprisingly sad and lonely at the same time, depsite the millions that stream through it. Much more efficient than Chicago's CTA - trains arrive every forty or fifty seconds. And the escalators heading down to the platforms are longer than you can imagine - it takes about three minutes to ride one.
