The Madster and I made dumplings this morning (or dumpies as she calls them). I made the skins first which was really easy and much nicer than the bought version. I put an egg in but you can just use flour and water. The filling was pork, green pepper, red cabbage, carrot, garlic, ginger and oyster sauce. Fried in sesame oil for a couple of minutes, then water to generate some steam and lid on for five minutes. Had them for lunch with sticky rice and pickles.

I am a sucker for gadgets, especially kitchen gadgets, especially when they cost pennies on ebay. The Tawa pan should assist my flat/pitta/chapati/naan bread making. The gyoza moulds sound more complicated than I thought :)

The white on the beetroot at the top is ice. I had to chisel it out of the ground. This was a take on a meal I saw here on flickr. Potatoes, beetroot, kale, onion, garlic, cooking chorizo, white wine vinegar and sage. I may have over exposed the poached egg but I did not over cook it. Yum.
