The Life of the Chinese Gold Farmer

In September 2006, I traveled to the cities of Shanghai, Jinhua, and Nanjing for a first-hand look at the gold farms of China, where workers earn 30 cents an hour "harvesting" virtual items from World of Warcraft and other online games. My guide there was Shanghai native Jin Ge (a/k/a Ge Jin and Jingle), director of the forthcoming documentary Gold Farmers.
