Actually, the rain helped with that, but since the smoke has been blowing downriver it hasn't been that bad, except for a point during the first day when it blew inland. And I'm two blocks away.

Thanks, I'm very flattered.

I wish I could tell you that this was the result of diligent hard work and many exposures, but -- it was late and wet and raining and all I did was brace myself against a police barricade (since i knew i'd be fighting a slow shutter speed) and set the camera on automatic.

I did pull a trick with the autoexposure and the streetlight to increase the shutter speed, but it was more a matter of "i think this might work" then any kind of deliberate calculation.
