Labradoodling

Jenny and John caught redhanded "labradoodling" with Gunner. A Labradoodle is a crossbred or hybrid dog created by crossing the Labrador Retriever and the Standard or Miniature Poodle. The behavioral characteristics of these dogs varies widely, but Gunner is as mellow as mellow can be. He is nearly as laid back as yours truly. ;~)

A New Beginning

My mother has nearly recovered from a potentially fatal brain injury suffered during a fall in her home. My father really struggled living at home for the last two months while my mother was in rehab. In the end, the biggest transition for both of them was to move into an assisted-living facility and out of their home.

Transitions in life can be looked at it many different ways. I have been deeply touched by the bittersweet moments, the deeply sorrowful moments, and those moments that can only be dealt with by laughing. As I caught my parents heading down the hall towards their new home, I chose to remember this not as an end to the good times, but simply as a new beginning.

I am firmly convinced that we often miss the best times of life by confusing new beginnings with bitter ends. And so I choose to remember these days as a new beginning, assured of who is in charge, and all the glory and wonder that lies ahead.
