Take-off deck

Take-off deck

Hello Flickr, I have returned after a long absence. Long story short, I now live in Texas.

On the deck of the USS Lexington are numerous planes used in the US Navy over the course of the career of the Lexington. Here is one such, with the control tower in behind.

I accidently left my camera on fluorescent white balance for the first few pictures I took, and I thought this one lost its punch when I changed it over to a more natural tone, so the blue tone remains.

USS Lexington

USS Lexington

Hello Flickr, I have returned after a long absence. Long story short, I now live in Texas.

I visited Corpus Christi on the September long weekend. In Corpus Christi is a now-retired aircraft carrier that has been opened as a museum. The USS Lexington was commissioned in World War II and served in the US Navy until 1991. It is the longest-serving vessel in Navy history (I think) and holds or held many records for distances travelled and things like that.

Government House

Government House

On the hill just above the Opera House is Government House. It was closed to the public by the time we walked by, and there isn't much signage outside the grounds, so I don't actually know much about what Government House is. But I thought it looked cool.

Giant Fruit Bats

Giant Fruit Bats

Walking around the Botanic Gardens in Sydney during the day, there are thousands of giant bats sleeping (or not) upside down in the trees. In the evening, they can be seen flying around over town. This one was having a stretch at just the right moment.

Shot by Keo with my camera.

At the end of a hectic trip

At the end of a hectic trip

On our last day in Sydney, we walked around the botanic gardens, and I sprawled in the grass while Keo chased some birds with my camera. Apparently she wasn't just chasing birds.
