Salvation Mountain from the front![]() ![]() The very base of the mountain is just a flat wash of main abstract paint colors & shapes. To the left is a walkway that lets you climb up and stand near the base of the crucifix, at which point you be able to see all of the nothing that surrounds this bizarre man-made tribute to religious fervor.

Sad that it should be so bizarre to you. The rarity of such personal dedication and inovation is a blot on mainstream society. Despite the grandiosity of this monument, it's vastly intimate and humanizing - the opposite of more common monstrosities to devolved passions such as are found in Vegas.
Perhaps this is one man's answer to that Babylon.
