Natalie Kelly, the illustrator for Shelter in Place, did this fantastic illustration of Dr. Mercury and her original characer, Nova, for my birthday.
Natalie has this way of peering into my head and seeing the characters that live there. Here she does a perfect representation of Dr. Mercury, right down to the body posture, hair, and expression.
She understands Dr. Mercury so well. You can tell, because of the way she is holding Nova's chin in one hand, and drawing blood with her other hand.
Just glorious.
