Whoops! I meant 70-300. I get confused on my
mm ratings because I keep mentally trying to
multiply by 1.6 for the actual mm (which
would be 480, in this case).
It's the Canon prosumer 70-300 w/ IS and
cost around $600.

The 70-300 DO (short, fat, green ring)? I
had thought about buying it, but didn't trust
the new-fangled DO tech.
Also, I read that it has a tendency to halo
around bright objects. But these shots look
awesome. They're as good as what I get from
my 70-200 L.

There is noticable flare, espeically at
full zoom. For example, take a look at this photo, especially at the duck.
Wish I could afford the L series lens... I
hear those are sharp w/ minimal flare.
