When I realized that last night would be moonless, I decided to drive to a dark site and give the D3s a run at high ISO night photography. The above image was taken at Craters of the Moon National Monument. The sky glow is from the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory sites in the desert to the east and Arco, Idaho.
The performance of the D3s did not disappoint. No noise reduction was used on these images. In camera, I did turn on the long exposure noise reduction and the high ISO noise reduction was set to "Normal."
