Ancestral Memories '09

Not my usual work, but I help Bowden Pen Farmers out whenever I can so I designed a poster for their upcoming annual heritage get-together. They have it way out in the Blue Mountains. It's a gorgeous and remote area.

The Design: There's nothing subtle about the Jamaican culture. The same applies to their posters and ads. "Minimal" isn't in their designbook. So I try and match their style and still maintain my sanity. (All the photos are mine.)

Moore Town Graduation

I was the "official" photographer for the Moore Town Primary School graduation. I think I did okay. This was one of my favorite shots of the kids. I finally caught them not staring at me or posing and the lighting was decent. I had a good time.

Treasure Beach Roof

Spent the 4th of July weekend in Treasure Beach this year. Took 8hrs to get there, but it was a great time. About 30 Volunteers showed up and hung out for 2 days. Good times.

The picture: the Cacona House is a 3-story house + roof. The moon was WAY full last weekend so we had just a surreal time up on the roof all night.

Yardna

No amazing story here. I was at a Maroon celebration in Charles Town. I saw this man sitting off to the side and decided I wanted to take his picture. Rather than going up and asking right away and THEN explaining who I was and whatnot, I talked to him for a minute and THEN asked if I could take his picture. This is a MUCH smoother approach.

UPDATE: I replaced the original photo with this one. I didn't like the hue of the original very much.

Out on a day trip with some folks from Comfort Castle. I was the "photographer" so I had my camera around. This little girl kept hiding from me.
