Here's something a little different from me. Ok, two little somethings different: an almost abstract seascape, and a picture of something man-made. Holy crap, what's he been smoking?!
Last Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the annual Pigeon Point Lighthouse lighting with Jave, Jim, Kendra, Diego, and hundreds of other photographers, including Alan Grinberg, and the infamous Miles Morgan, who is neither as old or as fat as he claims to be.
When it became clear that sunset was going to be nice, I cruised down to the beach for a little seascape shooting. I invited the other folks, but I think they didn't want to lose their prime lighthouse-shooting-spots (which paid off for them since my lighthouse shots did not come out as good as theirs). So I was down there all alone when the clouds blew up. Strange to be in an area with hundreds of photogs during an awesome sunset and be the only one at the beach, but I ain't complaining.

p.s. be sure to check out my video down below to see just how many photogs were there!

Tech Notes
--------------------------------
Nikon D300s
Tokina 12-24 mm
ISO100
F/9
1 sec
12 mm
Lee 3-stop and 2-stop soft GND Filters, handheld at a slight angle to
darken horizon on the right
Post-Processing
----------------------
In Raw Converter (Nikon Capture NX2), converted single Raw file twice,
once for the superbright sky, and the second time for the foreground
and ocean.
- Global contrast for added pop
- Dramatically reduced color saturation in the sky because the oranges
and yellows were completely lost to color muddiness
- Slightly darkened and added contrast to the sky to add oomph
- Local contrast adjustments to the water to punch the color
In Photoshop:
- Noise reduction via Neat Image
- Hand blend of 2 TIF files to get a master composite
- Curves layer to darken sky slightly
- Slight burning of highlights on a bright lights luminosity mask to
pull down highlights in the reflections on the beach
Thanks for looking!

Great curves and lines, you really get drawn down into the water. Lovely colours and composition too!!

Very nice. I like this composition a lot. It would have been easy to get lost in the colours, but bringing in that dark rock was a great idea.
