Self Disassembly

I have a robotic left arm. It malfunctions once in a while from too much computer work, so I have to take it off and service it.The hardest part is trying to reconnect all these wires with one hand.

Shame you had to take your power supply out of your PC for this :)

    12. Josh Sommers (75 months ago | reply)

Jacco, you're the first person to notice that this is a powersupply. However I didn't have to take it out, it is just a spare one I have laying around, I have two sitting around at the moment, the one's that came with cases but I replaced with higher power/quality versions.

This picture is amazing. I came across it doing a search for 'cyborg', as I'm giving a presentation (on Wednesday morning, GMT) on concepts of nature (a masters course assignment); I would like to ask your permission to use this picture in my assignment. I hope to hear back from you soonest.

Yes, elinorp, you may use it in your presentation.

man I really wish I knew how you do it... I know how I do things but I don't think you do it the same way... can's see any residues and leftovers from cutting and pasting. The pix is as pristine as if it had been taken that way. Your shadows are perfect.

You're a master of treatment. not only technically perfect but also total fun to look at. That goes for all the pix in your stream.

I bow before your genius. *grns* can I get some of yours?

Frey- I use masks. I never use the eraser or selection tools. The trick to this image was that I shot all of the pieces in place. So I shot myself in several positions, and I shot the wires, drill and other elements right there on the table, so that way I didn't really have to worry about unrealistic lighting or shadows. Then it was just a matter of masking each layer so that they all fit together. After that it was down to adding in little details that couldn't be created in real life, like the screw holes in my arm.

    29. freyrstrongart (50 months ago | reply)

Ah... thanks for the info. Since I work mainly with existing photographs to create new content, residue edges is always a problem and takes the most time to eliminate. Your method explains how everything fits together so perfect. the advantage of planning a picture.

    30. Josh Sommers (50 months ago | reply)

Yes, but even when I don't have the ability to shoot everything in the same setting I still use masks, and not the eraser or selection tools. I'm not 100% sure I know what you mean by residue edges, but the answer is still to use layer masks.
