CPT Delegation 2006 - at-Tuwani |
Photos from 11/27 and 11/28, 2006. The tiny Palestinian village of at-Tuwani is located in the southern West Bank, about 20 minutes by taxi southeast of Hebron. It is much older than its recent Israeli "neighbors," which include the recently developed (illegal) settlement of Ma'on and the even more recent (illegal) outpost of Havat Ma'on, from which settlers freqently come and harrass the villagers, poison their livestock, vandalize their property, or otherwise make their lives difficult. A primary function of the permanent Tuwani CPT team is to observe 15-20 children from the nearby village of Tuba on their long daily walk to the school in Tuwani, which passes in between Ma'on and Havat Ma'on. The settlers also harrass, threaten, and occasionally attack the children on their way. Some of our delegation team accompanied the observation team on the mornings when we were in the village.
