Historic Benzie County Courthouse

Historic Benzie County Courthouse by joseph a.
Beulah, Michigan

The former courthouse was built in 1912 and is listed on the National Register. Beulah is situated in one of the most beautiful locations of any county seat I have visited: www.flickr.com/photos/josepha/2673100032/

This is one of the weirdest courthouses I've seen. Do you know why it was designed like this?

Thanks! Wish I could have visited more Michigan courthouses, but I hope connecting the two peninsulas was good enough!
