Memorial Day / Memorial Weekend, Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC

what is neat is considering that it's probably ten-ish and check out all the people still hanging out the memorial! even inside, by lincoln, was still packed!

This is a night shot of the Lincoln Memorial. Nothing fancy, but it's
still something I can't see in this city!!

the story would be better if they were homeless. Could you herd some to the Jefferson Memorial, it is closer to town...

From west to east: Lincoln, Washington and Jefferson Memorials. The Washington is in the middle. If you head straight down the Potomac towards the Washington Monument and walk twice as far then you will arrive at the Jefferson Memorial.

well how in the world did i miss it then?? i lost my map about 20 minutes into walking the first day. so i spent the reast of the 7 hours or so roaming hoping to just find what i wanted and asking for directions to the metro. that night we went to target and bought one of those really nice laminated maps. worth every penny too!!!

is it behind the capitol building? i remember seeing something on the other side of some busy road. i thought that was the jefferson memorial, but i'm not certain. i'll have to look at a map and see.

what were you doing, camping on the mall? Get a map for free from the hotel. The Jefferson Memorial is south of Washington Monument between DC and DCA/National Airport. Yes, on the drive. No, nowhere near the capitol, wrong direction. I thought you said you could find your way around?

lol .. yea pretty much that first day. that's a lot of walking!!!

well, the map i had was getting destroyed in my back pocket anyway. it was so hot and the map was falling to pieces so it was almost a blessing when it put itself out of its misery!!! at least the laminated one was immune to my torturing :)

lol ... yea, i think i'm getting myself turned around ... long day at work and did not get home until after midnight .. of course that's my excuse for tonight, what is it for the rest of the time?? :o)

i see.... well it depends on where and how far for me. if it's around here in downtown, i'll walk it since it's impossible. out in BFE or something ... yea i'll drive. some days i just like to go joy riding for a bit though. it seems like i do that most days when gas is crazy expensive here!
