Royal Masonic Institution for Girls, Clapham Junction

Royal Masonic Institution for Girls, Clapham Junction

My Great Aunt Geraldine in front of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls, Clapham Junction (on a site now occupied by a Peabody Estate). In a letter dated 14 November 1908 to my Great Grandmother, she wrote:

My Dear Mother,

I hope you are quite well and happy. I am sending you a piece of the wool, the kind I want for my work. It is called double Berlin I am also sending you a flower from Australia and I hope you will like it, and I hope you will like this note paper. Thank you very much for the two nice long letters you sent me. But I do not thank you for tempting me in the last letter by telling me that they are packing little teapots, jugs and other things full of sweets and chocolates. I wish you would stop Bruce eating flies please, then perhaps he would get nice and plump. Now I must close sending heaps of love and kisses. I remain your loving daughter Geraldine. P.S. Visiting is not allowed yet.

The letter was written when Geraldine was about 10. In the photo I suspect she is about 12 or 13, which would make it circa 1910.

My Great Aunt Geraldine, on the right, with a schoolfriend. Taken about 1910, I think.

Great Aunt Geraldine

Great Aunt Geraldine

Scanned from a small original print, hence the grain. This is Geraldine, the youngest of my paternal Grandfather's four sisters. She was the baby of the family in this earlier post

She was born in 1898, but I'm not sure how old she is in this photo, and hence when it was taken. I guess about 1910.
