Bamboozled

"Bamboozle" is a very strange word isn't it?

It means to perplex, to deceive by trickery, to mystify or to hoodwink (and that last one's another great word!)

The Online Etymology Dictionary suggests that its roots lie in the Scottish 18th century slang word "bombaze" (from "bombast" or the French "embabuiner ") which itself means to perplex.
