Manhattanhenge Sunset - 42nd St

Today was Manhattenhenge, or the "Manhattan Solstice", when the sun aligns with 42nd and 34th (and some other) streets.

This photo was taken standing in the middle of 42nd St @ 3rd Avenue. I was originally perched with starsonvelvet on a bridge over 42nd St neat 2nd Avenue. However, NYPD cleared the bridge around 7:45PM for President Obama's visit. We didn't want to risk losing our spots in the front of the crowd and instead went down to the street and setup our cameras and tripods on the sidewalk, then ran into the center of 42nd street during the cross. We did this at least 9-10 times and although there were 4 cops standing on the opposite corner, they were remarkably cool with us doing this (we never blocked any traffic).

This particular image is processed with Photomatix, an HDR (High Dynamic Range) tool and is a composition of 3 different exposures, which allows so much of the photo to look so well exposed.
