This piece consists of hundreds of various sizes of tubes which have been altered with paint, dye, salt, and oatmeal and then pieced together to create an organic looking structure. Other materials used are newsprint, tissue paper, cotton swabs, cotton filling, and yarn. This piece explores the intricacies and complexities associated with natural structures. Many artists have used landscape paintings to showcase the inherent beauty of nature, my work however, focuses on the structural components of nature. Instead of painting a bush or a tree, I want to understand how it is put together and how I can replicate it using recycled and household materials.
