Stockholm evening

Stockholm evening by Joi.
Are those the northern lights? It's hard to tell because the sky is a bit cloudy...

(Shot around 18:30)

Thanks! Yeah. It's sort of chunky. The glass plate on the back of my M8 fell off so I'm lugging this around for now.

They don't look like the Northern Lights to me. Usually they are Green or sometimes tinged with red. I've never seen blue ones!

I love the combination of blue and gray/brown in the sky; this is fantastic.

They actually look a bit more green outside right now... they turned out a bit more blueish in my image.

it looks a bit like clouds reflecting lights from the ground. Oh and by the way there is no such thing as Aliens and Men In Black.

Mr. Noded: That's what I thought at first, but unless there is some huge stadium in the way out there somewhere, I don't see any lights like that on the ground anywhere. And all of the lights I see are sort of brownish on the ground.

Aurora Borealis looks more like this:

but they are known to be visible from Stockholm:

It could be Joi. Perhaps this is a reflection of them or seen through a haze.

Even if it's not aurora borealis, it's kind of fun to pretend. =P

I saw it once. It was red. I'd love to see it again.

Could it be the last vestiges of sunlight? I don't know if it's usually pitch black by 18:30 there.

I once saw the Northern Lights from my home in Minneapolis. It was just barely visible.

Considering that you're looking south-west, you're too far south for regular northern lights and that lights like that really usually are reflected from the ground... it's probably something completely normal. Maybe sunlight... wait, where does the sun set?... West, that could be right.

Anyway, especially when driving around the very flat areas of Tartu at low temperatures, I've seen absolutely amazing light pillars of car headlights miles away. Optical phenomenon in nature are fun!

It is scenery that wants to see indefinitely.
I like place where empty brightness in the back is slight.
