The English Defence League (EDL) staged a march through Barking, London on Saturday 14th January 2012.

The right wing movement was met by a counter demonstration by Unite Against Facism UAF, and kept under close Police control throughout the march and rally.

The event in Barking saw only a few minor scuffles between members of the EDL, the local community and the Police, but remained relatively peaceful.

However on leaving Barking, some EDL members appear to have gone to Tower Hamlets where violence broke out between members and some of the local community.
