Red Patinated Copper Disc Earrings
A touch of century's old Asian design and a whole lot of modern style come together to perfection in our Red Patinated Copper Disc Earrings. Traditional Raku ware from Japan served as a major inspiration for these elegant earrings. This pottery was often used for ceremonial purposes and was produced by oxidizing the pottery to create one-of-a-kind patterns on its surface. The same has been done with these copper earrings by exposing them to the effects of oxygen, resulting in a natural patina of red, maroon, brown and orange. No two pairs will ever look the same, as the patina will never form the same way twice. A protective coating is then applied to prevent further turning.
The Red Patinated Copper Disc Earrings are hand formed and made of genuine copper. The patina is a permanent feature on the metal that cannot flake off or fade over time. Intended for pierced ears, the earrings have 14-karat gold-filled French earwires and measure 1-1/2 inches in diameter.
