Bald Eagle Watch, 2012: "Why can't we simply see eye to eye about this location?"

Bald Eagle Watch, 2012: "Why can't we simply see eye to eye about this location?"

Driving home from work today along the Calaveras Road I spotted this pair of Bald Eagles on top of the power pylon with the nest that has been there for at least the past 3 years. Hopefully this is a sign that they will be nesting there this year, which could mean more baby eagles! Needless to say I'll be going that way frequently to see how things progress...

This was shot using my 28-300mm lens on maximum zoom, and then cropped in a bit so you can actually see the birds. The pylon is on protected land and the closest I can get to it is about 900ft away!

Published (again)...

Late last year I was approached by the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station in Miami, Florida, as they wanted to use one of my images in a fundraiser calendar they were producing for 2012. Honored to be asked, I agreed, and thought nothing more of it. Imagine the smile on my face when I got home from work today to find an envelope on my desk with 5 of the calendars in it as a thank you.

Check them out at pelicanharbor.org/, and see details of the calendar at pelicanharbor.org/products/phss-calendar/. They used my image for February! :-)

... and if you like what you see and want to support their work, they'd welcome donations or calendar purchases (the other pictures in the calendar are fantastic too :-) ).
