      really, really cool!
I'm going to try this colour/black and white thing, once i've worked out how it's done!

The blue of the bottle is electrifying! It definitely stands out much more than if the whole photo was in color. I also like the coffee being in color in this one - much more interesting than the one with only the bottle in color. Very nicely done indeed! I'd have cropped out the very top where you've got a bit of a tree trunk and someone's feet, but then that makes the top of the bottle too close to the edge. Could you have cloned those bit out and just leave the gray of the ground?

Thanks to everyone for your comments and favorites, and especially to Mr. Smiley Man for your in-depth comments (and for indicating how you found the photo).

Someone commented on one of the other versions of this photo that the composition might have been better without the feet. As you note, cropping it wouldn't work because then the bottle would scrape the top edge of the photo. The reason I didn't edit out the feet is simply that I have a policy of not doctoring my photos other than cropping, lighting, B&W, and removing dust from scanned photos. Otherwise, I would probably blur out the background so that the feet blend into the background more. I didn't do that because I don't like fake depth of field. As you say, I could have replaced them with ground, but I like being able to look at a photo and say: This was really what was right there at that moment; this was what happened to be in front of me when I stopped at a café in Paris one morning.

Très jolie photo et très belle composition même si le cliché à la parisienne est un peu trop fort. Mais vraiment j'adore, cela me rappelle un peu Sartre...

This is my favourite version! The colour of the expresso balances the blue bottle in terms of composition (that in overall is great!) and colors. I also like the feet an i agree with your policy of not editing the photos to much. If so, what we're doing is not photografy, but digital art! Congrats! :)

Such an appealing image, in all.

      000658 LOGO Vidres

I am BCN, administrator of the group www.flickr.com/groups/vidres and we think that this excellent picture can be added to the web.

In "Vidres" we expose pictures in which the crystal is the obligatory actual element. Through it, we must see, reflected or in transparency, people or things. You can upload them in the mural - there is no single limit - and ONE in the thread of opened discussion (actualment Vidres-44:
      www.flickr.com/groups/vidres/discuss/72157622 017427817/
), where it will enter the competition (it does not matter if the picture has obtained other prizes). In both cases they must fulfil the previous requirement demanded. Thanks.

Thank you for posting this photo and sharing it under a Creative Commons license. We used it as an illustration on our site, 500 Kindnesses to go with a pledge we received. This project is a charity bike ride where instead of asking for money, we ask our sponsors to pledge acts of kindness for others in the hopes of spreading kindness throughout the world . Last year we rode from Toronto to New York City on a tandem bicycle. Next year we will leave from Mobile, Alabama on another tandem bike and ride home to Toronto along the Underground Railroad Bicycle Route. More about the project is here, and the entry is posted here.
