What do our beliefs and mental models cost us ? Is it possible or likely that mental models and belief which we "refuse to compromise" could be hiding possible practical solutions or experiments we could try that don't seem to align with our beliefs, religion, political party, ethnic background, and the cultural conditioning absorbed from family, friends, teachers, coworkers, political leaders, religious leaders, TV personalities, news sources, schools, media, internet sources and more ? Think about broken systems in education, politics, the economy and how the experts in charge have struggled to adapt to the changes in our interdependent, unpredictable world we live in today. Are the mental models of the past blinders that hinder our ability to imagine different ways of creating a more prosperous future for everyone. Can we escape the trap of arguing over which ideas and beliefs are right or wrong. ? There is fertile field that is waiting for seeds to be planted. ( Also known the youth of our planet. ) When will we recognize how much energy and attention we collectively invested in blaming and debating and the zero sum attack ad politics of 2012.
