Lunch at Balthazar with clients. My doctor called me earlier in the week saying I was low in iron, which gave me a good excuse (not that anybody ever needs one) to eat mollusks for the third time in a week (I'm not the type of food jerk who would say something like "mollusks" all the time, but I had to generalize because last night was scallops in an appetizer). These were very mild, meaning the broth at the bottom was perfect. I never realized that other mussels broths were way too white wine-y, garlicky, salty, and parsley-y than they probably should be, until that. (Though, overload on the salt garlic white wine and parsley flavor will never make me complain!)

It was a beautiful bright morning, and I somehow loved seeing an empty street with a shiny Coke truck. I love those tiny little slide-y doors.

Lucy brought these back from her vacation in Puerto Rico. I used to eat these all the time, and hadn't thought about them since the very last time I had one, at around age 9. I internally combusted when I saw them in our kitchen, and every time I tasted it I would pause and have a silly grin on my face. Not very productive for the work session I was in. Sorry guys.

It's partially my own fault, since I was dragging my feet for a lot of today. I plugged away with shrimp salad and Ke$ha until around 10PM, making charts and taking pictures of sticky note white board brainstorms.
