Uberdoog, It's funny that you caught that... I'm not a Brand Manager, but I have a collection of Sardine cans at work. I just like how they look very similar even though they are different brands.

Re: similarity in packaging. It's done intentionally and generally based on the colors and design of the market leader. The idea is first to mimic with small variations and then to evolve into a distinct label when there's enough of a following and market presence.
