I wondered why I was getting so many hits. But, gosh, I can't find it there...

It's the link that references my comment above, on the 2/5 Architecture entry. blog.flickr.com/flickrblog/2006/02/architecture_sa.html

cool. nice that Heather recognizes your good eye. how're ya liking the Rebel?

I like it a lot, David. It's relatively small and light, and the controls make sense. A Nikon I had a few years ago was so poorly designed I sold it after just a couple of months. I'm so glad to have an SLR; now I'm getting the shot I want (no shutter lag). Not important for architecture shots, but vital for people shots.

      Joey,
Is this building on the south side of Monroe Steet in Sylvania, west of Whiteford Rd? Looks a place that belonged to friends years ago.

    9. Joey Harrison 78 months ago | reply

Yes, that's it. Did it look like this when your friends had it? And is it a house or a studio?

      Joey,
The property that the Versailles condo complex is on belonged to Chet and Mabel Foth. They ran a plant / tree nursery and lived in a house set back from Monroe Street. Sometime, probably in the 1960's, they expanded the business a bit by building this sort of sales/business office for the nursery / landscaping operation. I think this was a few years before they sold off much of their real estate for Versailles development . Chet and Mabel both passed away in the past 30 years and I don't know what the property and your 'front office' building have been used for since then. At the time it was built, it was a simple contempory-looking structure, but conservatively painted (pale green, I think). Chet and Mabel were contemporaries and friends of my parents who lived in Toledo. I'm glad you have gotten some photographic enjoyment out the Foth's 'legacy'.

Thanks for that fascinating history. I checked the morgue (clippings library) at the Blade -- where I work -- to see if there were any articles on the Foths but couldn't find anything.

That's a great place Joey. Just change a panel colour for a completely new look.

What a good idea. You could change them out with every change of season.
