The Sound Of Democracy

The Sound Of Democracy by Joe Shlabotnik.
This is supposed to be the last year that New York State uses the old lever voting machines they've been using for decades. I'm going to miss them. I'm especially going to miss the resounding CHHUNK sound the big red lever makes when you pull it. To me, that's the sound of democracy. I don't care what system the state uses to replace the machines, as long as I get to pull a big red lever.

(The levers where I grew up on eastern Long Island control the booth curtains, too. But sadly, the ones I've used in NYC don't.)

The sound of democracy in England was the scratch of pen on paper! Seriously!
