Helvetica Talk Poster

Helvetica Talk Poster

For this project, we were to choose 2 topics to do an ad, a poster, and a brochure for. We were to choose two topics: one related to the design industry, and one for a non-profit organization that was in some way related to our interests.

For the design related series, I chose to create a hypothetical lecture discussing the duality of the often times controversial typeface. In theory, there would be a series of 3 notable designers on each side of the argument for and against Helvetica. They would talk and discuss in front of an audience, and then the audience would get to participate in the discussion. I wanted the poster and ad series to reference that interaction with the audience and call on the viewer to take action. In the case of this poster, cutting it in half to decide how you feel about Helvetica, whether you love it or hate it. Alternatively, if you're undecided, you can keep it whole too.

This is the poster that would theoretically be hung at local art/design schools, art supply stores, coffee shops, regular design kid hangouts.

Child's Play Poster

Child's Play Poster

For this project, we were to choose 2 topics to do an ad, a poster, and a brochure for. We were to choose two topics: one related to the design industry, and one for a non-profit organization that was in some way related to our interests.

The nonprofit organization I chose was a charity called Child's Play. I should point out that I am in no way affiliated with the actual Child's Play charity, but that I just appreciate the work they do and greatly respect the people involved.

My goal was to reference the 8-bit nostalgia factor that a lot of modern gamers tend to have, and use that to influence them to possibly donate or get involved somehow.

This is the poster that would theoretically be placed in shopping areas, gaming/comic shops, or events for Child's Play.

In the case of this magazine ad, writing in with a pen or marker some superlative on how they feel about Helvetica.
