The Madonna Inn is in San Luis Obispo, California, right off Route 101, midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
It has 109 unique theme rooms where you can stay as well as multiple odd over-the-top dining environments. You can/should see photos of all 109 rooms at this link...

We had heard about this place for the longest time and had always wanted to check it out. We finally planned it into our agenda during a two week road trip in August 2007. People from all over the world come here as a roadside curiousity destination stop.
It was a unique and memorable experience for Marlow and I and our three boys. It was much better than we could have ever imagined.

We stayed in the lovely Tack Room, you can check out the photos. The description reads -
"Western living is more than a sense of style...it’s a way of life. Stow your gear and stay awhile! Red leather wall coverings with brass tacking accentuate the backdrop for this theme. Wood-planked tile floors, Navajo patterned rugs and western art are the perfect accents to complement the décor. Located on the ground floor of the hilltop unit, this room has one king and double bed and bath with shower only."

...This place was freakin' RED. Even red leather bedspreads and walls. Also had twin pink marble sinks and awesome pink marble countertops in the bath.

We met some other people there and took some photos of other rooms also as you can see in the photo set.
