Kiss of the Sunbird | Bannerghatta National Park

Kiss of the Sunbird | Bannerghatta National Park by Jnarin.
Beautiful Purple Rumped Sunbird, caught in action during its feeding time. :-)

Scientific Name : Nectarina Zeylonica

The bird is about 10 cm in length. They're normally everywhere, it's easy to spot them through their call.

Oh yes, I picked up the Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L USM IS too. :-) Took it for tests yesterday, and am spell bound by the results. Image was shot RAW, and converted to JPEG without any processing (suffered a 30% crop though). Have not processed it for noise - I felt I was losing sharpness when processed for noise.

Shot at Bannerghatta National Park yesterday - This bird was out in the wild though.

Work commitments and laptop issues have been keeping me offline. I will be back soon.

Good shot.
Good composition and depth of field.
I like contrast and (natural) colours too.
You have captured a great moment photographing the bird while it was eating.
Good job.

as my predecessor allready said, the tonality and contrast in this image is good. It's helping the image in such a way it's more interesting. The reason why this is working so well, is the fact that the bird, which has more of a 'earthlike color tone' contrasts nicely with the green foilage.

It's just one of those elements most (beginning) photographers forget about. You should always try to create these contrasts. It helps the subject pop out of the image.

I also admire your patience, I tried some bird photography a while ago and I could not wait untill the birds where sitting quitely... so that's also a great perk you have there.

Maybe you could even spice it up more, creatin some artificial bokeh, which is smoother than the one you have now ? That's the only thing that's bugging me....

(disclaimer : offcourse the comment above is completely personal :-). Just putting my thoughts here)

Not the kind of shot I can get excited about at all. However, from the point of view of the techs. It's clearly a good image. Excellent focus and composition capturing the bird feeding.

Great colors and a beatiful bokeh on this shot! :) Good sharpness on the eyes, which always is important when it comes the animalphotos :) The composition is very good, great capture with the beak in the flower.

Good work!
