Blue vs Yellow

Blue vs Yellow

Spaceship Earth... artfully captured.
When at EPCOT, I will always attempt to capture Spaceship Earth in a new and creative way. I find the possibilities near limitless with such a visually fascinating structure that is the geosphere.

It Really is a Magic Kingdom

It Really is a Magic Kingdom

Captured from the Tomorrowland Peoplemover right after the sun dipped beneath the horizon.
Upon seeing this sight I knew the exact end result, a silhouette image with the recognizable castle spires against the dramatic sunset sky.

Digital Paint

Digital Paint

Every now and then I like to take a photo and really play around and experiment with it in Photoshop. I find it to be fun and a good way to test my creativity to see what I can come up with. This time I wanted to take a photo and make it look as much like a painting as possible.. a certain style of painting that probably looks familiar to most (think Van Gogh). This required a lot of manipulation across the image, working on small sections at a time and then continually going back to get the look just right. The grid overlay option in Photoshop was key for this, as I could break down the entire piece and work square to square.

I'm satisfied with the transformation of this image. It's kind of neat to see how it turned out as a whole after working on individual areas little by little. Looking back at the original photo and then the finished result is also quite neat.

Komodo Dragon

Komodo dragons are one of my favorite animals, right up there with Alaskan brown bears, American black bears, and snow leopards. I find them to be very fascinating creatures to observe. When viewing the komodo dragon they give off a vibe of being sort of a last-of-its-kind creature from a primeval world. They have seemingly outlasted all their counterparts from prehistoric times and now stand out among the creatures of todays world.
Very cool creatures indeed.

Apple Splash

Apple Splash

Something I've wanted to try for awhile now but up until recently have not had the proper equipment to do, the fruit splash. This type of image requires proper lighting to achieve desired results. My two recent lighting purchases (Bowens Streamlite 530 light and a Canon 320EX flash) made this apple splash possible. Once the lighting is ready to go, it is trial and error trying to get the timing down and then it is just a matter of repetition. With further attempts I'm sure I can improve upon this, but for starters I think this is good.

Setup:
Canon 7D mounted on tripod w/ remote shutter release + 24-105L lens + Bowens Streamlite 530 light + Canon 320EX flash + Water tank + Honeycrisp Apple
