A Red Hawk

A Red Hawk

My husband was backing out of our driveway when he happened to notice a beautiful red hawk sitting in our neighbor's tree. He called me and told me to grab my camera - which I did. I really didn't have time to change lenses or even to check my settings. As soon as I finished snapping a series of shots, he tired of posing and flew away. I was very lucky in that he did turn around so I could see both sides of him (see below). What a lovely bird!!!

Majestic!

Majestic!

When we were in Couer d'Alene, we had the opportunity to see many, many eagles. And I spent a good deal of time desperately trying to capture them in flight. Unfortunately, I had a lot of things working against me - the weather, the lack of the appropriate lens, and most of all, my inability to get the dang settings right as things kept changing. I took a couple of hundred shots and got only a few that are passable. The good news is I've since been gifted with a 300mm prime lens and now I am SO ready. And Couer d'Alene is only 1800 miles from here!

Sedona, AZ

Sedona, AZ

We were in Sedona only briefly - arriving late one evening and leaving early the next morning. But I still managed to capture a few shots. And took even more as we drove through Oak Creek Canyon on our way up to Flagstaff!!

Restaurant with a View - Redondo Beach, CA

Restaurant with a View - Redondo Beach, CA

While we were in Southern California, we visited with my son in Redondo Beach - and we went to a wonderful restaurant there called Samba's. It's a Brazilian churascharia - and the food is absolutely fabulous. The fact that it's right on the water simply adds to it's charm. This picture is one of the views from the restaurant. I applied some painterly effects in Photoshop.

Sun-kissed Shoreline

Sun-kissed Shoreline

As mentioned on previous photos I've posted, the stunning scenery along the entire California coastline was endless. It made for a LOT of stops along the way! This shot was taken late in the afternoon, when the sun was hitting the rocks along the shoreline.
