Ziggurat at Ur
The ziggurat at Ur. Most of the third level, the temple, and the arch at the top of the staircase have collapsed, but most of it remains standing and tours are provided by a third-generation Iraqi caretaker.

What a fantastic photograph ... it's one of the best I have come across of the current state of the ziggurat at Ur. As a teacher, it can be difficult to find contemporary, non-altered images of ancient structures to show my students, so thank you for posting this picture as it has been a useful reference for my ancient history class.

Hello I am developing an exhibit at the Museum of Ontario Archaeology around a collection of artefacts from Leonard Woolley's excavations at Ur. This is an excellent photo of the ziggurat! I would love to use your photo in the exhibit. I will give you full credit and give special thanks in both the onsite and online versions of the exhibition.

It's contested that this is actually Ur, some believe Urfa in Turkish Kurdistan is ancient Ur. It's great to see this photo though, despite the extent of Saddam's bastardisation.
