New Tool in Flickr. I just checked our photostream to see a link to "map" in the toolbar. The link lead nowhere but things are promising :)

Frank Gruber, quyzbuk, brad77, hudson_jeremy, and 9 other people added this photo to their favorites.

    I agree
    flickrhack

see the gap in source code it means they are not displaying a line which could be maps

Appeared also in my Organizr. For a few minutes I got a "ADMIN:Map" tab on top. I selected it and I got a world map like Google Maps. I managed to zoom to a region and drag some photos on the map, but the action was not completed.

This is cool that Flickr will make it easier... I geotag now with Google Earth, but it is cumbersome... here is an example:

Nice! Can't wait to have this available!
But a question: I like your browser's skin... which one is it?

The Beta of Picasa with PicasaWeb support also has geotagging built-in.

In the menus look under "Tools>Geotag>Geotag with Google Earth"

It will launch Google Earth with a Geotagging interface on top!

I want geo-tag-by-tag as well. For example, if I have two tags, "Alexandria" and "Virginia", it should automatically geotag it to Alexandria, Virginia WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING.

As long as it only works when you put a tag like "map by tags" or something to enable what Clint says, it would be nice, but mapping like that for all the tags in all the photos wouldn't work. I don't want a map of Virginia in photos where a girl named Virginia appears :D

haha...... yes.. that is why I think some tags should be typed -- you say whehter it's a person, place, or thing. like person-Clint Jones, place-Virginia. I actually tag my photos like this locally (have been since 2001), and have a program that converts them to what I use in flickr (which would just be "Clint" and "Virginia").

I would probaly write my program to add "map by tags" into every photo automatically, so I would probably still have the same problem with my friend Virginia... EXCEPT THAT -- I live in Virginia, so no problem there :)

Interesting. I also notices this 'maps' link during the brief time it was visible. I also saw that someone had asked about it in the bugs forum, but that thread disappeared as mysteriously as the link itself. Very odd. I like maps and I'm looking forward to this feature.

[ps: I found this screenshot in 'Explore']
