Touch the Sun 1

Shot for the Strobist Lighting 102: 3.2 - Balance | Flash/Sun Crosslighting exercise

The things we do for a hobby...we finally got some clear skies today but it was about 15F and windy. Too cold to shoot the kids outside, and I think I had about used up Mrs. Packfill's patience anyways, so I went solo. This was a difficult setting. I basically couldn't chimp anything due to glare, and the glints from blowing snow ruined some otherwise nice shots. Also, don't try this at home! Even though I tried to avoid looking straight into the sun, I got a little dazzled and I'm still seeing spots eight hours later.

Strobist info: bare 430EX at full power on lightstand to camera right, pointed at my left arm.

Post-processing: crop, spot removal (blowing snow), highlight recovery and ++vibrance in Lightroom.

And since I apparently didn't include EXIF info:
    Canon Digital Rebel XTi/400D
    EF 50mm 1.4 lens
    ISO 100
    f/22
    1/160 sec
