I had seriously doubted the claim that an iPad would be a 'magical' experience. But after the kindly Apple reps gave me a complimentary bottle of SmartWater, and gave me some alone time with it, I must say... I want one.
It's crudely been described as a big iPhone - but it's a whole 'nother animal. Nimbly and beautifully built for shared media, photos, videos - deftly accessing the web, mail... and the touch keyboard is really cool. I felt right at home with the large and quick responding buttons. Actually, since I type on my iPhone vertically, it felt even more comfortable for me in the vertical position. Screen is amazingly bright, and very crisp.
iBooks is really quick and turning pages is sensitive and quick. You can even grab the edge of the page and move it around before you turn it. Very intuitive.
Notice all the words above synonymous with 'fast'? The thing is FAST. I definitely see potential for expanded use.
Flickr looks awesome on it too. Combined with the news that all Flickr videos can be rendered on iPad via HTML5? Even better.
If I had the extra cash - boom. Sold. But I have as much cash for it as I do a legitimate reason to have one...
