another cool idea they came up with: the salade vegetarienne, which is basically a giant cheese plate on top of some lettuce and sun-dried sundries.

much like defective yeti's pronouncement on taco salad, you get to eat cheese and say you ate salad.

I worked there years ago, and it is just stale bread they switch out every few days.

Regarding waste, I would ride home with a trash bag full of day-old pastries and bread trying to give it away. Maybe one or two people would take an item or two. At least the menu holders weren't a total waste.
