The Snowy Owl eruption comes closer to home. Even Yahoo ran an article about the eruption news.yahoo.com/snowy-owls-soar-south-arctic-rare-mass-mig... . This Snowy Owl was found by Peter Scott on his way to Goose Pond (on the top of a telephone pole) at sunrise. Michael Brown and I went and scouted for it. Michael Brown located it via binoculars over 0.5 mile away [Note to self-- be sure to take Michael along if you want to find a bird].

One day I saw one of the two birds with a can stuck to its beak. It took about 5 minutes for it to knock it off. A co-worker and I went out to the field and picked up several cans at lunch time when the birds were not present. Obviously we missed a few, since this bird found two cans the next two days.
