New Espresso Label

The farm's included are here. One third Finca La Fany, one third El Borbollon and one third La Rosa.

We are concious of the sacrifice of space for the contents, and want to find a way to improve it.

I like it. The first thing I look for on a new bag of coffee is a description to the flavor profile.

I dig it! Upfront about the flavor profile. Very upfront. So upfront, you can't ignore it.

That's a whole lot of flavour and/or aroma components in one blend!

I reckon it's a great idea, but that label has too much upfront information on it in my opinion. The tag cloud would be better if you focussed on maybe 3 or 4 characteristics which stand out the most The more subtle characterisitics could be in a smaller font.

That way a quick glance tells you what you need to know and a further examination will reveal much more detail.

I guess there is also the issue of the designers having to fit it in to a neat square which governs your font size and to a certain extent. I'm not so sure it would look bad were it not a neat square though (like a traditional tag cloud). It would likely be more eye catching as at the moment it could almost be mistaken for being simply a pattern, at a distance.

I'm sure you've explored all the options anyway. Good work.

Wow... long flickr comment!

You do love the texture don't you.....

That place Lorna and I were talking about with all the old printing blocks was on Greek Street I think.

Pass 'The Milk Bar' on your right and go left down greek street and it's on your left. About a 20 foot wall of old printing blocks extending down to the basement.

love love love it. i have seen so many crappy designed coffee labels hiding amazing coffee it's so great to see something new and exciting highlighting what i'm sure tastes as good as it looks, though i haven't had the privilege to taste it! (and apparently i love to write ridiculous run-on sentences). but very nice, very very nice.

does the size of the font correspond to the amount of that particular characteristic? i guess it would be a logistical nightmare to arrange...

The font is supposed to match the likelihood of that particular flavour. Our designers were not happy about this idea!

What you SHOULD have done, is have no taste descriptors on the label, so as not to influence us, then once we tasted it, there is a layer we could peel off to reveal the tasting notes.

James, I managed to get some of this stuff a couple weeks ago. This pull was my best one, and it reminded me of the anise in chai tea. Great stuff, thanks!
