Having gotten disappointing photos of the steam engine yesterday (all
of the shots I could take were with the locomotive coming OUT of the
sun), I wanted to take some more shots on Sunday with better lighting.
So I went up to the Metra station in Deerfield, Illinois. Thinking I
had gotten there early, I strolled up to the platform planning to take
some pictures of the historic station while waiting. But as I was
chatting with another railfan, we looked north and saw the smoke
coming from what could only be a steam engine. It was at least 30
minutes early. Luckily, I had enough time and thought to bring my
camera on this scouting expedition. I'm much happier with this
picture than yesterday's.
The Deerfield station is on the National Register of Historic Places
