Manhattan Chrysler Building Still An Icon

For a year, until the Empire State Building was finished, the Chrysler was the world's tallest building in 1931. It has 77 stories. A series of gleaming, gradually diminishing arches clad in stainless chromium-nickel steel tops the building. On top of those, there is a 185-ft stainless spire. Enormous stylized eagle heads, pineapples, and automobile-related designs decorate the building. Its lobby is an art deco extravaganza of marble, chrome, and fresco. Too bad they don't make buildings like that any more! Isn't it wonderful architecture? Great shot, my friend!
