11/04/08 - Obama, Chicago, My day |
November 4, 2004
Making history? We'll just have to wait
a little longer to truly see what will
happen.
By now because of the press, the media,
the conversations on the bus, the
reactions of those who attended the
Grant Park rally and voted, we recognize
that November 4th 2008 was in fact a
historical event. I mean, come on?
So on Tuesday, I decided to play
photographer and roughly document my
whole day. I wanted to document what was
happening around me, even thought I
missed a few things. I believe I had a
pretty full schedule and the nature of
my day took me around a different places
in Chicago.
Here we go;
7.00am - I woke up.
7.45am - I voted and talked about
politics with a woman who was very proud
of her son because this was the first
time he was able to vote.
8.30am - Arrived at the Belmont and
Milwaukee corner, to work. Go community
organizers! The first thing I was asked
was if I voted.
9.45am - By now, I've been talking
about international politics with the
jornaleros for about an hour straight.
11.30am - I rode my bike to my other
job but stopped to take some photos and
to talk about politics with strangers at
a Logan Square polling place.
1.30pm - I stopped to help a girl who
got hit by a car on her bike, I stayed
until the ambulance came then I walked
her to the police car.
3.00pm - Arrived at the community
center and ate a late lunch. I talked
about Republican politics with my
co-workers.
4.00pm - I opened the community center
for the kids.
4.30pm - I watched some of the kids
play twister.
6.30pm - I watched some of the kids
play basketball.
7.00pm - I started a conversation
asking the High School students "If
you were old enough to vote, who would
you vote for?"
8.00pm - Got on my bike and rode to a
"private" party at the Chicago
Cultural Center.
8.45pm - Eating Chinese food with
friends before we go to Grant Park.
10.00pm ish - Left to Grant Park.
Histoty.
10.01pm ish - Photos, photos, photos...
1.00am (Wednesday) - Sleep.
