World Trade Center and Statue of Liberty

    Newer Older

An all time favorite. I knew this angle existed after viewing a newspaper photo. My job was to find it, and shoot one for myself. Looking at a map, and drawing a line helped alot. Park near the decrepit Caven Point pier in Bayonne, NJ. Ignore the no-trespassing signs, Climb under a cyclone fence, make your way around the giant holes in the pier floor, and line up the shot. Taken with a Canon A1 with a 600mm lens. The picture date is an estimate. Well worth the trouble.
I was wasn't there ten minutes when another photographer traced my path.

Very poignant, I think the effort on your part was well worth it. I really like the tones and contrast and composition. I found this because I was particularly interested in photos taken with Canon A1 as I am hoping to persuade my father to lend me his! I am impressed that you had a 600mm lens (envy actually). Great Image.

Was it taken from an elevated view point? Obviously meticulous research went into the composition anyway. Were you not tempted to include the top of the towers? (I think it was better that you didn't).

The pier was about 15 feet above the water in the harbor.
Thank you very much for your comments.
