Certhia familiaris, (juvenile) common (Eurasian) treecreeper, junger Waldbaumläufer
This is a tiny young bird that Akiba had caught and put down in front of my window (the feathers are still a bit ruffled). Before he could finish it I grabbed it and carried it outside on the other side of the house. I breathed on it, talked to it quietly and stroked it a bit. The little heart was beating wildly first, but for some time it sat in the palm of my hand. After a while it hopped unto the table and I continued to take photos. Some time later it spread its wings and fluttered across the street and up into the next tree. I think it might be a young lark. Does anybody out there know more?
This photo is in Explore today, Nov. 6th, and has gotten an invitation to 'Spectacular Animals'.

Such a sharp little beak! I'm sure that will help someone confirm what sort of bird it is.

Yes, it definitely shows that it is an insect eater.

nice photo and story. the bird is a Tree-creeper or a Short-toed Tree-creeper - hard to tell when it is a young bird

Thank you everybody! Thanks, andreas, for your input! But I think the little creature's toes are too long to be "short-toed" (in the other photos you can see the feet.

Thanks again, Andreas! Meanwhile I'm sure it's a common treecreeper.
