Thesis abstract image

For the publication of the master thesis, C-MD requires each student to submit an abstract and an suitable image. I created this image in Photoshop with the help of some photo’s from the Apollo missions, the Hubble telescope and a photo from an old sundial. After some experimentation, I settled on this composition, which depicts the astrounat latching out his sundial. Visually, it communicates both the old (sundial) and new (space), and connotates the sense of exploration and endless possibilities. Navigation and exploration are two closely linked concepts which are at the foundation of this image, and are also the basis of my thesis.
