My DIY dragonfly bath

My DIY dragonfly bath

So I've been noticing a multitude of dragonflies hanging around the tomato garden and since they eat mosquitoes I decided to encourage their presence. This makeshift fountain was made with one of my drip lines that I ran up into an old curtain rod. We've had this pedestal sitting around for a while and I put a spare garden pot dish on top to collect the water.

Mystery Heirloom #1

Mystery Heirloom #1

This is the first of my four heirlooms to bear fruit. It could be any one of these 6: Aunt Ruby's German Green, Dixie Golden Giant, Black from Tula, Brandywine Red, Big Rainbow, or Cherokee Purple.

My bet's on the German Green because it's green. That's a lazy guess, and if it starts to change color I will change it.

At this point my plants are on the verge of going beserk. You are seeing 4 plants here (each with a guardian marigold and basil to the side). They are all indeterminate, which means that if I let them, they will continue shooting out vines and take over my backyard and potentially the neighborhood.

So now I'm learning how to prune. Reading up on the literature I could have been pruning this whole time, but hey it all works out in the end.
