king by Guacamole Goalie

king

The opening two-page spread for a magazine article about one Mr. King, a conservation-minded ranch manager for 45 years.

What to do when presented with tight space and a glut of decent but snapshot-quality supplied photos? You build your own wall. The upper wallpaper is an over-and-over repeated vector file, the lower wall a solid brown fill texturized in Photoshop to emulate bumpy paint over plaster. The wood is a repeated texture file, stretched thin. Lighting and shadow effects were added to distance the overall image from appearing too computer-made. And the photo frames? A stroke of luck – Google "free photo frames" and you'll find a nice, if tacky, collection of high-resolution empty picture frames.

folds

Six-photo stitched panorama of Devil's Garden sandstone fins in Arches National Park. I like how they veer off like pages in a book.
